COD 5 History

V1

And so it began on September 15th 2009, Call of Duty 5 was created by lolumadd AKA Steve. Who could tell that it has been a year, when, to be honest, it feels like 10 years have passed. So let’s start our journey, in July last year Steve was playing his favorite game at that time Call of Duty World At War and so he got the idea of making a SA-MP server that will replicate it. Even though he didn't know much about scripting at that time, he was determined to make it work. At the beginning, the server had only 2 teams (USA and Germany) and 30 player slots. But the server was an instant success and within a  few weeks, he expanded it to 40 slots and then to 50, and after some time, added few more teams like Japan, Russia, mercenaries. At that time some of the admins were Tai_Storm, Dark_Mati, Layne_Gilbert, Smit, MozZ, and Nikolai. The Server started growing at a very fast rate so the slots got expanded to 100 and once again it got full. Most of the guys that were admins in V3 joined the server in this period (Njale,IAZZMS,Lucius,Knight,Cyber,Ecko,MAX...).

V2

Version 2 of the server arrived in late October, Teams' bases were redesigned and some other bugs were fixed. I almost forgot to say that before the launch of V2, Cmg4life joined the server and he actually made V2. After a few weeks the server got 125 slots and once again filled up, but a big bug started causing problems. Steve started to lose interest in the server so because of that, the sever lack of admins in game which started a massive SPAM on the forums, more and more players complained about it. Also cmg and Steve got in to a fight which resulted in cmg leaving the server to make his own and later Nikolai end up banning himself, so basically the server started falling apart. Despite the bad situation, some of the regular players had their best moments on the server at that period of time, but we couldn't hide the truth... The the situation got even worse because the server had ping issues, which resulted in players getting randomly kicked and because of this, there could be no more than about 30-40 players on the server. A few days before New Years Steve announced that he is leaving the server and that he will leave the server to ExoSanty, who previously donated a lot of cash to the server. We entered 2010 and the future of COD 5 was uncertain.

Development of v3

Because V2 was having major problems, lolumadd and Sergiz were developing on a new version of COD. This was never completed because of a serious problem lolumadd encountered on his computer. He lost all of the files and didn't want to start over again.

Total War

Exo made a quick script and launched it, Lucius became co-owner and hired all of the regular players so that we wouldn't be short on admins at that time. We had about 50 players on average those days. A few weeks later cmg came to the server and asked Exo if he will accept him to be a scripter again. Exo obviously was over his head with all the stuff he had to take care of, and he accepted cmg for a scripter. We had restart problems, so we changed server location in an effort to fix it, and we expanded to 150 player slots. Cmg started working on V3 while we started to get more and more players on the server, also some of the admins from V2 like Google and Layne left the server and we had some new faces like mruak (some of the admins thought that he was a ban evader from V2. He was even banned for one period of time along with UPU2). So V3 was ready to be released, but some of the admins didn't want a new script. To solve this, Exo decided to run 2 servers, one with V3 script and one with Total War, but sadly it was shut down because of major bug problems and when it got back to its feet everyone had already left it and exo couldn’t support a server that nobody would go on, so he took it off the hosted list and the future of Total war stopped with this.
After some time the server got added into the hosted list with new leaders, scripter [COD5]Mean, the server manager and his right hand [COD5]Wolf. We got new updates and people started to join again, new admins like [COD5]Eminem (now [COD5]Jace), [COD5]CpT (Captain), [COD5]Showtime (now [COD5]HawX), [COD5]Filip, and [COD5]Shooter (now [COD5]Nikolai). With the new updates we reached 100/100 users online so [COD5]ExoSanty , added 50 more slots, BUT when 0.3d came and when we update the server ,we lost 60% of our regular users and new users. After some time, lag attacks occurred and the game play had started to become boring. So we started to lose users and our scripters started to lose the interest in Total war. [COD5]Wolf resigned from his scripter position and Mean tried to fix our lag problems, but something was wrong, people started to lost their stats and admins started to lost their staff status in server. Ultimately Moker came to save our life by fixing the problem. He started to remove the rpgs, fix some bugs, and add funny stuff and in 1 Week, [COD5]Mean came from his inactivity and he started to update the server fix lag issues and updating the bases.  Because of this, we gained new users, some new admins and operators and some new clans. Wolf took back his scripter position with mean and they both took care of the server. Sadly though both mean and wolf were still inactive due to the fact that they had school and had their regular life to attend to so many of the things they wanted to add were unable to occur.
Then the froster plan occurred, the lvl 5 (frost) launched a plan where many admins resigned causing a decrease in the staff so that the scripters would script more or so that was the plan. The plan backfired when two new level 5s were hired (Nikoali and Superwet), though Superwet was already an admin on RR, Wolf knew that Superwet was the best choice for the job. Due to the fact that many admins left they stuck in a wall. Also it was school time for many players so not many suitable people were available to be picked as admins. Though the HRs did not give up they kept trying and was able to overcome this. Though everyone started to notice that more bugs were reappearing in TW and the scripters weren't doing anything about this. Finally Mean quit his scripting position and wolf was nowhere to be found. Lucky for us xrx came to the rescue but this time as a scripter of TW. Mean eventually came back though still not completely active. Now with 3 scripters big changes are happening and V3 of TW is beginning to launch.

V3

At first, V3 looked like a failed idea because there was only 50 players at most and many players didn't like it, but after a few weeks of bug fixing and hard work from cmg, we were starting to get back on our feet again. V3 was named Resurrection and a lot of new admins were hired at that time (Konnerbraap, Nehalem, Reverenth, eBay, TheLegend and some others). We reached 150/150 players again and we expanded to 200 player slots. After that, we started to get ping problems. To try to remedy this, we changed the server location again and although the problems didn't disappear completely, it was definitely better than it was before the change. The script kept growing more and more. There were updates almost every week and we were coming closer to the version 4. Then Exo decided to buy a dedicated PC in France to host our server, and cmg was right about to finish V4. So we decided to move the server and update it at the same time. Many players or members now think of V3 as the era of m4 where there was no lag and not many fights. In my opinion, it was a server for players who were pure soldiers with neither rpgs nor hunters: it was just pure skills! V3 was a lot more stricter. To get into the COD5 community staff required a major privilege and only few people were lucky enough to get in. We also came up with a new system for those who wanted to become admins. The new system was called help operators. They are like mini admins and their duty is to help the admins to find hackers and had to be always on duty. They would help the server and help the admins at the same time. So far COD5 future looked bright.

Hacker Paradise

A server that ExoSanty ran for a while that was actually doing kind of good. As the name states this server was a server used for hackers. People with hacks would go into this server and start hacking like crazy, but the funny part was that we were not allowed to ban a single one. The server wasn't a permanent server. We actually used this server for bug test and to find out lots of cool hacks so that the staff of COD5 could be prepared to ban all those who tried to hack on his servers! The server had a strong, smart leader who would fight till the end for his server and would take a bullet if needed for it.

V4

On October 15, 2010, the Sawn-Offs crisis begun, with the limitation to 1-handed sawn-off. 15% of the server started spamming for the 2handed sawn-off. Clans were on the verge of being banned from the server for stuff that was not acceptable, and the servers' lag was at its peak! Many players left because of this issues. You couldn't go to area 51 without having your computer freeze at least 3 times!! Many players were making suggestions upon going back to v3, where there was no lag.  Also the Forum had major updates and it was completely made from scratch. We got a major upgrade in players. We reached up to 200+ players because total war went down for a while because of a major bug! There was a bit of an issue with the lag because the movement to 0.3b (a new samp client) made the server a bit more laggier, but it wasn’t a major issue yet. We also got a new co-owner named Moker, who was a huge help. In this period of time there was a lot of drama in the admin team, few guys left and some got fired (UPU2, ToPhrESH, Konnerbraap). Despite that, there were a lot of new faces on the server whom, I hope, will eventually replace us.

V5

Many staff members at the time had special talents. Not only that, but a new server was on the rise. We had acquired a new server: COD5 Battlefield and it doesn't just stop there, we also got a new roleplay server! During this time a new client came out 0.3c with all its new effects. We also had over 60+ staff members and the server was doing very well. We also got over 273 members during the Christmas break, but soon, the player count dropped back to 200 because the lag hit a new high. Christmas was coming and Santa Exo felt generous and unbanned over 30,000 bans. We saw lots of new faces and even some old ones, but ExoSanty was not mad at them because he said, "Who angers you, conquers you". Forgiveness is a funny thing, it warms the heart and cools the sting. Eventually, in the new year, a large part of the lag was fixed, Asian team was re-added and the server became more populated. Though with success comes haters, and many copy cat servers started to appear. Most of the servers were from ex-admins and from players who were unable to get accepted into the staff. Though we continued on and showed them that the COD5 community is imitated by many, but equal to none.

Development of V6

V5 was one of the most successful versions for the server, so cmg4life decided to develop version 6. At the beginning it seemed to be a very good version different from version 5, but when version 5 was updated to 6 it was completely a fail. It was such a big fail the the player count dropped to 150 from 300. Because V6 was a completely fail, we decided to stay in version 5 for 2 more months...
cmg4life had many things happen in his life and was heavily inactive, so Exosanty picked up his slack and made huge changes to v6 to make it how it should be. Though sadly the playerbase never peaked back to its legendary 300 amount. We stayed at a normal 150 and on weekends went to 230s. Though with success comes difficult and we had a lot! Many players that got banned started to ddos us to blackmail us into giving them back them their accounts and to make them admins. Though we did not give in and fought back, when they noticed that they were shutdown they attempted to shut us down forever and almost succeed! Exosanty sent a message that COD5 was shutting down and that all the severs would be closed but with all the voices of encouragement from the staff and the players Exo decided to reopen it on new dedi.

Los Santos Cops and Robbers

In the long period between V5 and V6, something new came out. Since Stevie got back and Exo granted him permission to create a new server; Los Santos Cops and Robbers was released in April 30, 2011. At the beginning it was planned to be a TDM server called “King of the Hill” but he didn’t like it, and using a buggy, crappy, abandoned script he had in his PC, LSCnR was shaped. After a successful beginning the server fell in abandonment as Stevie became inactive again. At the beginning of 2012 there was a series of reports from other servers’ admins on staff there. This made Exo give Jarek, who was already the Community Manager, all powers on the server. Just as he did in Armageddon, he managed everything fairly, but with iron fist. This in turn solved the critical situation in a couple of weeks. However, Stevie came back and made a lot of updates in a really short time raising the server to 200+ players and becoming the most popular  CnR server in all of SAMP.

V6
Samp 0.3d was almost over and cmg4life made version 6, which was not so different from version 5 with just some minor updates. V6 marked the beginning of the the hydra crisis... almost all the players started flying hydras/hunters and so the community started losing so many players. Cmg4life went inactive so ExoSanty (Server owner) Had to lead his server alone. He started updating the server and added new features which would makes our gameplay more enjoyable. The server was still losing their players because of hydra/hunter riders. ExoSanty still had the server in his hands. Let us hope in the next version we dont have so many hydras/hunters. It was soon time to move up to samp 0.3e. At the beginning of samp 0.3e, the server was a complete fail for the community as the player count was at 60/499 but after everyone got samp 0.3e, the player count started increasing as it was before.Time passed,as in the start of the V6 everyone was driving their hydras and hunters. With many suggestions he was given, Exo decided to make some of heavy vehicles for higher ranks. After a short of period,he updated a bit more stuff for newbies, and at the moment they were given a bit more protections from the most popular spies. Anyway, this isn't the end of the this great time for our server. The 3rd Anniversary is coming up and with it more good events come, more fun, and more players.

COD5 Battlefield

One of our admins, Jarek, had a lot of scripting experience. He made a server that is hosted on ExoSanty's dedicated server. He released it in early January 2011. It is a war server with rotating maps. The server began with barely 5-6 maps for one gamemode, today it has 3 gamemodes and more than 100 maps. Most of these maps are made by Players (90% of the maps). The server features one of widest weaponries ever seen on SA-MP (mines, dynamite, airstrikes, dispenser packs, poison pills, REALISTIC grenade launcher, static miniguns, SAMs, launches with torpedoes, bomber planes, banditos with M4s, etc...). Now more than 1.5 years have passed since the server was released.

(Full development logs here)

v0.01 to v0.26 (November-December 2010): Birth of the server.
Gamemodes: Battlefield. Maps: COD5BF0: Blood in the Lake, COD5BF1: Devil Pine, COD5BF2: Area 51
Classes: Soldier, Sniper, Engineer, Heavy trooper (with a normal RPG), Scout, Assassin (now known as spy), Technician
Special features: mines, dispenser packs, spy disguise kit, teargas effects (a bit bugged at that time)
v1.00 (January 2011): Official release of the server.
Featuring the famous Saboteur, his dynamites and the beginning of people's rage "Ahhhh fucking team mates fuck off from my dynamites!". The server had the old map voting with a selection menu (you had to scroll up/down in a dialog and click on "vote").
v1.01 (January 2011): Birth of Chuck_Norris bot. He couldn't do as many things as he can today.
v1.24 (February 2011): The permanent weapons came out.
They allowed you to have some weapons FOR GOOD if you won its killstreak enough times. For example, if you won 75 times a deagle for doing 4 silenced 9mm streak (in the whole existence of your game account), you would ALWAYS spawned with a desert eagle instead of a silenced 9mm. Similar things for Spas instead of Shotgun, Sniper instead of Country Rifle. Later came permanent headshots and /kks. /kks allowed you to switch between katana and knife at wish.
The map voting also disappeared with this update: maps were always chosen randomly, unless a Lvl4+ admin forced a map.
v1.30 (March 2011): The team bonuses (buyable ones) came out, along with the "Hero" class.
v1.35 (April 2011): The famous version of BF, where we had to chose both the team and class at the same time.
This was an attempt to find a workaround due to the worst bug that the server has known: the famous "class selection bug", which took more than 30-40 versions before being fixed for good. This selection screen was also an EPIC FAIL: everyone complained about it, and the dual selection (the one currently used today) came back with v1.36.
v1.60 (May 2011): Chuck_Norris team bonus. <3
Chuck also became a REAL bot: before v1.60 chuck was only automatic messages and moderation tools. With v1.60, Chuck became a real bot that took 1 player slot and spawned in the admin area.
It's also the beginning of Chuck's chat reaction (and insults).
v1.80 (June 2011): MAJOR turn in the history of COD5 Battlefield:
1) Armed vehicles
2) Disappearing of the permanent weapons
The first armed vehicles came out! Flatbed, Yosemite (it had 2 heavy rockets on the sides, now replaced with the Dune), Rustler bombs, Launch rockets (it couldn't shoot behind at that time). In v1.81 we also had the very first vehicle equipped with dual M4s on the hood: the Patriot. Due to the big amount of patriots on most maps, it's later been replaced with the Huntley (which is still in use today).
In the first version of M4/minigun shots, the "yellow lasers" weren't attached to the vehicle, which made it look VERY ugly when we were shooting while driving..
This version also features the DISAPPEARING of the "permanent weapons". Due to most regular players having most of the permanent weapons (it took long to win them, but once we had them it was FOR GOOD), they could spawn, for example, with desert eagle+spaz as engineer, or M4+sniper+headshots as sniper. In a general way, the permanent weapons were considered as overpowered, and as a MAJOR issue that made rookies rage and leave the server. In order not to get the old player too angry due to this removal, they would get, in exchange, weapon kills for the future achievements, which would therefore allow them to achieve these quicker.
v1.88 (July 2011): The achievements came out!
v1.90 (July 2011): The static miniguns came out!
The SAM sites would come quickly after. The field canons and anti air batteries came out many months later. Note that at that time, static miniguns had a 47HP power! But they were shooting twice slower. They didn't have any "heat" bar also, which allowed you to shoot continuously without letting it cool down.
v2.00 (November 2011): The second gamemode came out! Team Death Match! It came with 3 maps.
Along with it, the good old "vote system" came back, in a totally remade version. This vote system is completely different from the one used bu v1.00, as it needs you to type a number to vote, and it displays the number of votes for each choice.
v2.20 (15/02/12): The third gamemode came out! Free For All! It came with 4 maps.
v2.21_R2 (23/03/12): TDM and FFA now support BF's special weapons, which GREATLY improved the fun and the retardedness we could have in these modes.
v2.30 (19/04/12) New gamemode: Carmageddon! Carmageddon depicts a deadly race packed with unexpected surprises. It includes the ability to fire missles, acquire boost pickups and to drop explosive barrels and road spikes to take down your opponents and win the race. As well as intriguing, it is also fun.
v3.00 (26/08/12) A huge change in the gameplay was done. Headshots became permanent and a bit harder to do. Kills and sprees now appear just like in Unreal Tournament (blue text in middle top of the screen), with a bit more colors in the chat, with sounds played with the "UT guy": "Headshot!", "Killing spree" or "M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!" added A LOT of fun in the game.
v3.00 also became the first "almost fully" translated version.
v3.10 (29/09/12) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bzWSJG93P8
The "Jedi Knight" came out, with all the fun (and bullshitting) that it brings along
Nowadays: Gamemodes: Battlefield, Team Death Match, Free For All and Carmageddon. Maps: more than 100
Classes: a shitload of different classes

Roleplay

The Co-Owner Mokerr has started on a project named CORP.
In the days of November / December, CORP was first displayed to the public. It was in beta for a while, but the server was becoming more and more stable. The number of people were growing! There were many updates, and the server was therefore not always online. But the real players remain loyal and waited until CORP was officially opened. June was the month it officially opened. There are still some bugs, but it is getting better! During the time there were a lot of problem with copy caters. Many players tried to copy CO:RP and tried to steal our players. The whole LSPD was corrupt and part of the copy cat server! Though a copy can never beat the original, there were some internal issues that was not publicly revealed which led to the separation of this server from us in April 2012. Currently, it's closed and Mokerr and Radic (server and staff manager) are no more.

I think the part of years should be actualized, as in V1 it sais last year; but now it's 2 years. Also, if it's possible; imagine the map of each version added (just suggesting as our story is really interesting)
